BY KATY CHRISTIANSON
I've created an image based around landscape and architecture, which I love to draw, and I hope the image gives you a sense of flying into a city from a remote place and back out again, stopping at some of the varied places people call home. The houses are inspired by Bristol, where I lived for 8 years, and remote parts of Wales where my partner is from. I feel at home in both places and wanted to convey that. I also wanted to focus on something with a lot of mark making and detail, and the entire piece was drawn by hand with a 0.2 and 0.05mm pen.

I am a freelance illustrator, printmaker and stationery designer living and working in South-East London. I draw with a lot of detail, am obsessed with screen printing, and am inspired by nature, strange and abstract marks and patterns, etching and lithography. I am currently in my final year of an Illustration Masters at Camberwell College of Art.
Tell us a fun fact about you I don't fly, so I've been most of the way around the globe by boat and train, and I'm writing a graphic novel about it at the moment.
Top three clients you've worked with? V&A Museum of Childhood, Bristol Old Vic Theatre, Carlton Books.
How did you get into illustration? Doing posters for gigs we put on at uni, when I studied History for my BA, but I've always been drawing.
What tools (digital or not!) do you use to create your work? I mostly hand-draw everything in fine Unipin drawing pens and brush pens, but also screen-print things wherever possible.
Who or what inspires you the most? Tom Guald, Jon McNaught, illustrators who have a high social/public impact like Jean Julien, Eric Ravilious and old wood-cuts.
What's your favourite website for inspiration? Walking around South-east London, where I live, and old wildlife and botanical illustrations.
What would your dream project be? Being given a budget to work on a space, for example a pop-up shop, exhibition and workshop space, to incorporate all the different things I love. I also love designing briefs and working with talented illustrators so something where I can get other people on board. Or book covers!
What does a typical day look like for you? Varied! (and long haha) I have a stationery business, my freelance work which can be anything, sometimes I teach screenprinting, and I'm doing a masters so there's a lot of plates spinning.
What do you do when you have a creative block? It's normally because I'm stressed, so cycling or boxing.
Do you have any tips for artists thinking of doing freelance? It's hard work! Be open to any project, try and stay excited even when things get you down.
How can fans keep up-to-date with your work? Twitter
