BY JAKE RICHARDSON

This Illustration has been inspired by retro ideas of how our future cities will look. Tokyo for me has always represented future innovation through its involvement in developing new technology along with the dense metropolis of lights and futuristic architecture. My method for creating this work started by experimenting with compositions, helping direct the types of buildings I used in the illustration. Once a solid rough was formed I used a combination of traditional and digital process to create the illustration

Jake Richardson

Im a freelance illustrator based in Derbyshire with a masters degree in Visual Communication (Illustration) from The University of Derby. Throughout my work I aim to focus on creating simple conceptual illustrations by combining digital and physical processes; this is formed from a passion for printed ephemera and a keen interest in different illustration practices. Much of my work centres on editorial projects as this allows the viewer to engage with articles through conceptual interpretations of written text, providing a strong basis for other disciplines.

Tell us a fun fact about you. I have an unhealthy obsession with stationary.
