BY HARRY WOODGATE
This piece came into my head as I was walking through the market in my town, with its eclectic mix of characters and its vibrant atmosphere. I got home and just let the image take me on its own little journey. I like that feeling of playfulness in my work and how it results in unexpected outcomes. I'd had an avocado toastie for lunch that day so I think that's where the finger-gunning avocado man came from. The cat in the corner is called Mr Slippery and he seems to pop up like a little 'Where's Wally' in an awful lot of my pieces. My brain is weird.

Once on holiday in Greece I awoke in the middle of the night to find a huge praying mantis sat on top of my mouth. I've hated the things ever since.
I'm currently working with a brilliant author on my first children's book, which is really exciting! I don't know that I could pick out a top three though, I'd feel too guilty!
Drawing has been my biggest love since before I even started nursery, and at age four I decided I wanted to be an author and illustrator. I toyed with a few more academic careers but it was sort of like a rubber band always pulling me back.
Photoshop and a Wacom tablet are my bread and butter. Besides that I just use whatever pens and paints and other stuff I can find lying around at the time.
My friends, family, people who are pushing forward in the face of adversity or amplifying the voices of people who too often don't get heard.
Twitter, probably. Lots of random thoughts, musings and opinions.
Anything where I could make a tangible difference to society through illustration. I don't know what form that will take yet, but I suppose it could be anything.
