Scott Balmer Interview

Scott Balmer is a freelance illustrator currently based in the UK, who solves problems of a visual nature and has being doing so from an early age. Whether it's towering monoliths or magnificent beasts, he would scribble away until no wall was left bare. With all the constant drawing taking place, this took him down the path of going to and graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone School of Art & Design.

How did you get into illustration? Not really sure, drawing is something that I have done for a large chunk of my life so it seemed fitting to look into doing some form of commercial art to pay the bills.

What tools (digital or not!) do you use to create your work? I usually work digitally these days using a cintiq display and a mixture of illustrator, photoshop or Clip Studio Paint amongst other things.

Who or what inspires you the most? I think nature does this the most since there are so many interesting and fantastical creatures, plants, forms which inhabit our surroundings.

What would your dream project be? I don't know, probably one that has enough restrictions to start a foundation but also allow the creative freedom to produce something which strikes a balance between the two.

How can fans keep up-to-date with your work? My website.
