Ryan Mills Interview


A London born and raised typography fiend. Growing up skateboarding he begun to appreciate the advertising and board graphics within the industry. This movement quickly transitioned into an ongoing love for graffiti and the hip hop culture. This allowed him to appreciate all letterforms and progress his talents.

Tell us a fun fact about you Likes to make home made curries.

How did you get into illustration? From a young age I was always drawing and studied in art and graphic design.


Who or what inspires you the most? Other like minded typography friends but mainly music.

What does a typical day look like for you? I’m nn early riser and spend most of the day on my feet but once seated I’ll always be sketching away.

What do you do when you have a creative block? Listen to music, mainly early hip hop and sketch lyrics or certain words and the artists names.


Top three clients you've worked with? Kricket, Beats (by Dre) and Platform13 Agency.

What tools (digital or not!) do you use to create your work? Mainly paint markers on coloured card and Procreate on the iPad Pro.

What's your favourite resource for inspiration? Again I’d have to say music.


Do you have any tips for artists thinking of doing freelance? Build a profile and don’t pigeon hole yourself in one particular style.

What would your dream project be? To work with any of my music idols.
