Maja Tomljanovic Interview


Maja Tomljanovic is illustrator, graphic designer and hand letterer from Croatia. She loves to create playful and colourful artworks. She loves to illustrate, play with pattern design, write with apple pencil and get messy with brushes and ink.

Tell us a fun fact about you I just adore to sing but I have no rhythm at all. But I sing anyway no matter how bad I sound:)

How did you get into illustration? I always draw as a kid and in high school. But stopped when i went to collage. And almost 3 years ago I quit my steady job and pursue my dream to do what I love and adore.


Who or what inspires you the most? Inspiration, truly, is everywhere. You just need to open your eyes a little bit to see it all around you.

What does a typical day look like for you? During the morning I drink my coffee and read emails, working on a client work. After lunch I go for a walk with my dog. And in the evening I work on my on illustrations.

What do you do when you have a creative block? I go for a walk, bake a cake, taking some time for myself, watch a movie, read a book.


Top three clients you've worked with? My current client Im working with on a colourful logo illustration, Love Ana design studio, magazine Milkx.

What tools (digital or not!) do you use to create your work? I work mainly on my iPad with Procreate. But I like to get messy with brushes and ink.

What's your favourite resource for inspiration? Everyday life.


Do you have any tips for artists thinking of doing freelance? Just start and create. And love what you do!

What would your dream project be? I would like to work on a packaging illustration for some beauty brand.
